Computerized Container- FAQ
|
-
What is a Computerized Container?
-
A sealed environment that encompasses traditional
Data Center Infrastructure. Solutions vary from a simple
structure to environmentally controlled areas that can
provide complete IT infrastructure to run all or part
of a business. Typically, a Computerized Container will
provide protection from exterior Heat and Cold. Not
all solutions are created equal.

What is the advantage of Computerized Container
Solutions?
-
The term, “Time is Money” is evident in
comparing a Computerized Container to a traditional
building of an IT environment. When building net/new
Data Center environments many aspects come into play
that don’t exist with a Computerized Container.
For example, a permit is not necessary for 99.99% of
Computerized Containers, but do come into play for any
and all building structures. The timeframe for permitting
alone will vary from State, County and Cities. If a
Computerized Container needs to be moved, that is easily
done. To move a Data Center, the logistics of moving
the equipment and then to a new facility can be Months
to a year. Think of it from a Total Cost of Ownership
(TCO). If you can bring your environment online in a
matter of weeks rather than a year or more, the TCO
can be reduced dramatically. Another important advantage
of Computerized Container solutions would be in the
area of modularity and scalability. With traditional
“bricks and sticks” (building net/new),
a company will build the structure to accommodate a
plan of 3 to 5 years (typically). Therefore, the cost
that is being incurred for cooling and lighting is incurred
for the entire structure, regardless if you are utilizing
all of the space or not. With a Computerized Container
Solution, a company is able to “pay as you grow”
and only cool the container itself. This can bring a
TCO down exponentially.
